Jan 28, 2016 - Used to edit Fallout 1 save game files and cheat.
Hi to everyone! I take FO1 for free here in GOG.com, and i'm playing with this game right now. So, i'm arrived in The Glow, but when i exit from this vault, i died!! (too much radiations.) because this is my only save i tried to use a save/character editor for changing the radiations rate of my character. But nothing seems works. I used FALCHE, that in Windows95 mode not find the save.dat file (even if i browse in Users/'User Nickname'/AppData/Local/VirtualStore/ProgramFiles/GOG.com/Fallout/DATA/SAVEGAME/SLOT01), instead, in MDOS mode, it seems to work (I can change each value i want) but when i run the game, the save data is exactly how was before (and so I died again.) What i can do for not replaying from the beginning the entire game? Thanks for who answer me, and sorry for my bad english ^^.

Try setting the location to C: Program Files (x86) GOG.com Fallout That should work if you followed standard installation and are on Windows 7.
However, you cannot directly alter your radiation level with FALCHE, but you can alter your rad resistance. That might help. If it doesn't work and you have nothing ingame to combat the radiation, you can try using FallEd to change stimpacks to RadAway. Haven't used the program successfully myself though so can't offer much help with it.

I think i can add more rad away but i don't understand how they works. They cooldown my radiations by 25 each minute/30 seconds? EDIT: Wow, it works now.
For others that such as me, have problem with these save data editors, check if is in administrator mode, it unlocks the writing tasks. What you should be doing before you got there is got some Rad X, what you need there is radiation resistance so your radiation level doesn't skyrocket while you're in there. You only need a small bit of rad away to take care of any leftover radiation as long as you use Rad X immediately when you get there. However 'because this is my only save' This is probably your biggest problem. Rule of thumb, or the golden rule when playing any RPG, always have more than one save file. Use as many save slots as possible just in case you have to backtrack. At least 3 save slots will be adequate for Fallout games, but preferably you should use all of the slots just to be safe (and because save games on old PC games take literally no hard drive space compared to a memory card for older console games).
