Oct 17, 2016 - I am looking to purchase a Selmer Tenor Reference 54. I am familiar with Mark VI, Mark VII and SA series, this is quite different to that. No such marking as STS-R54 on a Selmer, and the SN should be preceded by an N. In 1885, following graduation from the Paris Conservatory, Henri Selmer and brother Alexandre began building reeds and woodwind instruments in Paris, France.
Model 74 Selmer (Reference 54) Bb Tenor Saxophone: Inspired by the Mark VI model released in 1954, Selmer presents the Reference 54 tenor saxophone. An tenor saxophone that integrates the Mark VI's legendary acoustic characteristics with innovative modern keywork. They have a very open and responsive sound, so jazzers love them, and yet they also have a dark rich character in the tone, making classical players flock to them as well. It truly captures the magic of the Mark VI. It comes in a brand new Mt.
